Jacksonville, FL—S&P USA Ventilation Systems LLC (S&P USA), a leader in the sales, manufacturing, and distribution of HVAC air movement products, introduces the CrewCooler™, a ceiling-hung, high-capacity aisle air circulator fan. CrewCooler provides air comfort, ventilation, and safety for warehouse, distribution, and manufacturing employees. It economically moves large volumes of air to provide a ventilation cooling effect at AMCA-certified low fan speeds and sound levels.
Air movement helps prevent human heat illness by creating the skin cooling effect of sweat evaporation. Ventilation also disperses stagnant, stratified fumes and other airborne indoor contaminant accumulations to improve indoor air quality (IAQ). CrewCooler also helps dry condensation on floors to help prevent slips/falls and other Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) violations caused by sweating slab syndrome (SSS), which occurs when cold slab temperatures lag months behind rising dewpoints and indoor air temperatures during springtime warm-up.
CrewCooler is significantly less expensive, quicker to install, and more effective at aisle air circulation than traditional high volume low speed (HVLS) ceiling fans. CrewCooler combines wall-mounted, belt-drive propeller fan technology with custom-engineered, extended nozzles. The combination channels 4.5-mph spot ventilation air throws up to 100 feet in warehouse aisles and at production workstations. The 100-foot-long, narrow throw for aisles outperforms the wider overhead air movement patterns of HVLS fans that can be blocked or deflected by towering storage racks. CrewCooler’s increased ventilation protects employees from heat illness, disperses stratified airborne contaminants for improved air quality, and dries floor condensation for pedestrian and forklift safety.
CrewCooler’s two sizes are a 24-inch-diameter propeller, 1-1/2-hp. motor with a 2,256 to 9,774 CFM range; and a 48-inch-diameter propeller, 2-hp motor with a 6,659 to 28,209 CFM range. The fans are available in single or three-phase electrical power. They weigh 90 and 125 lbs, respectively.
CrewCooler was designed for mechanical installation in 30 minutes or less. It’s shipped fully assembled, factory-wired, strapped onto a pallet, and ready for mounting. The pallet allows a forklift to hoist and hold the fan into position during installation. The fans have factory-attached positioning brackets to connect four included hanging chains for suspension from common ceiling configurations. Once hung, the pallet’s holding straps are cut, and the forklift removes the pallet. Finally, the fan’s back two hanging chains are shortened to create the most effective throw angle and direction, depending on the ceiling height and aisle length.
During winter months when thermal stratification occurs in high ceilings, CrewCooler helps move trapped warm air down to occupied zones, encouraged by OSHA to maintain safe, comfortable work environment temperatures. This process also saves energy by reducing heating system run times.
