Jerry Xiong always imagined himself as a math teacher or car mechanic like his dad. Instead he became an engineer as it is the perfect merging of math and mechanics. His inquisitive nature to fix and build things helps him with designing fans and working on S&P fan software, Optisizer, equally.
Jerry has been with S&P USA for four years starting first as a design engineer before being promoted to senior engineer. Jerry studied Mechanical Engineering during undergrad. His passion for the subject continued through post grad where he received his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Saint Thomas in Minnesota.
He has had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects with S&P USA such as laboratory reporting, high temperature fans, custom fabrication, analytical analyses, and much more. He enjoys understanding the intricate backend of S&P USA Optisizer program, S&P USA’s Fan Selection software. This brought out his interest in computer science as he had to reverse engineer the logic and start from scratch.
His favorite project so far has been working on the reFresh series. Working with our Residential Product Manager, Matt Matheny, they teamed up to create this all-in-one unit from scratch. It made him proud to see something they imagined come to fruition. Jerry is most looking forward to his next project, getting S&P USA’s Centrifugal Roof and Wall Fans Miami-Dade certified. Having these TAS-201 and TAS-202 certified means that the fans will continue to perform when they are subjected to high winds and windborne debris often created from hurricane winds. These certifications are important to better serve our high wind and coastal area customers.
Jerry is known in our office as the Optisizer guru and the guy to proof any document from engineering renderings to Marketing catalogs thoroughly and precisely. We are thankful for his attention-to-detail making us at S&P USA better every day.
