Introducing the newest addition to our line of Dryer Booster Products: PV-DEDPV, Dryer Exhaust Duct Power Ventilator. This unit helps overcome the static pressure that builds up in long, complicated ductwork, allowing more flexibility in the placement of the dryer unit. In part one of our two-part blog series, we will learn more about what a DEDPV is, why it is essential, and why S&P offers the best solution.
Historically, residential laundry rooms were located on an outside wall allowing a short and simple duct run to exhaust the hot, moist, lint-laden air.
Changes in design trends have relocated laundry rooms to a more central area in the home. This causes long and complex dryer duct runs, which the dryer alone cannot overcome in some situations.
The International Mechanical Code limits duct runs to 35 feet or less unless an engineering judgment can be made allowing a longer run.
Longer duct work means longer drying times and more lint buildup in the ductwork, increasing the likelihood of a fire. High temperatures and lint buildup are serious safety concerns in the dryer system.
In part 2 of 2, we will cover the unique features of the PV-DEDPV.
